![]() ![]() I set up the dropbox following all the rules. A couple of months ago I purchased the iOS version so I could work on my novel on my ipad and sync via dropbox. It destroyed my novel suddenly, brutally.įor years I'd use scrivener on my desktop. ![]() Of course, I don't see how any of your rants are problems anyway.Īfter 5 years of use, I abandoned Scrivener last week. I didn’t think I would ever say this, but I strongly believe that a subscription based plan was the way to go, so all of these problems would have been avoided.Ĭonsidering that the development team is small (fewer than five people), I don't see how a subscription model would help. The Windows version is a separate code base and is developed independently. Resources going into the Mac development for years and years ruined an excellent product. If you want free, try something on github and see how often it's updated. You think it should be free? Sorry, real software development doesn't work that way. The different paid versions you have to acquire What performance issues are you talking about specifically? Scrivener is far from an abandoned product. What on god's green earth are you talking about? Consumers are being bled dry monthly on all sorts of subscriptions be it TV, software.whatever! There's big bucks to be made in that sense. I can also well understand people's fervent dislike for the subscription model - but sadly, its the new way of business. Ulysses devs went subscription to justify working on updates and give customers 'quality' - the idea being they can 'enhance' the product but its a double edged sword for them because if the app starts going downhill then people will just stop paying. Up to them I suppose, but at the moment I've 'hopped' into using Ulysses (sacrilege I know and its Mac only) and quite liking it so far. L&L don't 'need' a subscription their own accounts show they're sitting on plenty of cash if they want to spend it on dev work. The latest accounts filing for Literature & Latte (Oct 2022) show their cash reserves a little over £5.5 million, with a staff count of 5.
